Beach booty party favors

My nephew’s 6th birthday party was last weekend. Since they live down the shore, my sister decided to give plastic beach shovels as the favor. To add a little extra to the shovel, I made some edible beach booty!

I melted both candy melts in the microwave according to the directions on the package (chocolate first, white melts second). While the white candy melts were in the microwave, I lightly brushed on a little of the melted chocolate candy into each of the shell molds. I then carefully poured in the melted white candy to fill the shells up to the top. I lightly tapped the mold on the counter to disperse any bubbles and then put the mold into the frig for a few minutes until the chocolate hardened. The finished seashells easily pop out of the mold once they have hardened enough.

While they were still in the wrapper, I lightly hit the candy with the handle of a knife and then opened the wrapper onto a plate. I used the biggest pieces for the sea glass.

Once we knew who was coming to the party, I also personalized each of the shovels with a black paint marker. The kids loved the favors and Joey had a great time at his party!

These favors are a fun idea for any beach themed party and are easy to make. Now I just need to figure out what to do with all the left over Jolly Ranchers! Any ideas?

I link up at these great parties!
